Users received a notification whenever ChatGPT successfully added new information to its database.

The feature to retain conversation data was disabled automatically whenever users selected the “Temporary Chat” option, which functioned similarly to incognito browsing by not storing any conversational data. The previous system enabled users to control the information stored in the AI’s memory.

The advanced improvements demonstrate a substantial advancement beyond the previous system. ChatGPT’s interface now offers users two specific checkboxes that handle memory management functions. The original memory feature operates under the checkbox title “Reference saved memories.” The “reference chat history” feature represents the second and more transformative update to the system.

Starting today, users with ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscriptions will receive the enhanced memory feature.
